This follows an urgent court application launched by the Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights.
“All frontline health practitioners working at public health facilities in the country or deployed to trace contacts exposed by infected people, are provided with adequate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE),” ordered the High Court.
Government is also compelled to equip all provincial laboratories to enable them to test infectious diseases to increase turnaround time for tests to be conducted.
The order also requires that all frontline personnel be trained on how to handle Covid-19 cases and continuously test the personnel notably health workers, drivers, police and soldiers for Covid-19.
Buses and other vehicles used for carrying essential services personnel should be disinfected at arrival and departure.
Government must also provide adequate test kits at hospitals, airports and ports of entry and also teach the public on social distancing in public places.
