ED under pressure to fire Muchinguri

President Emerson Mnangagwa is under immense pressure to fire Defence and War Veterans Minister Oppah Muchinguri – Kashiri following her statement on Coronavirus virus.

Minister Muchinguri – Kashiri celebrated that Coronavirus was a punishment to the west for imposing sanctions on the government.

She said the Western countries economies are ‘screaming’ as a result of the pandemic before the disease was detected in Zimbabwe.

The pressure is mounting on Mnangagwa following information filtering from South Africa that President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended for two months his youthful Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams for breaching lockdown regulations.

The under fire Minister visited a friend and had lunch then posted pictures of the event on social media platforms drawing the ire and widespread condemnations by citizens and the Economic Freedom Fighters.

The Minister apologised to South Africans and to Ramaphosa.

Evelyn Ruwoko said: “We have a different approach in Zimbabwe, a minister makes an outrageous statement about the virus that is destroying lives and economies globally and boom. Next thing they are appointed as head of a Taskforce for the pandemic which she spoke against. We are rewarded for bad behavior this side.”

South African citizens are up in arms with the government for applying the law unequally calling for the arrest, prosecution and firing of the minister because many South Africans were arrested.

They argue that no one is above the law, therefore the president’s suspension is far short of the expected punishment for a public officer who breaks the law.

Elsewhere, TSTnews has learnt that Scotland chief medical officer was made to resign after breaking lockdown measures and the New Zealand Health Minister was demoted for the same offence.
